Serge Lehman is the main pseudonym of the French science fiction writer Pascal Fréjean. He has won the Prix Rosny-Aîné with the novel F.A.U.S.T. and in short fiction with Dans l'abîme and Origami. F.A.U.S. T also won the Grand Prix de l'Imaginaire. His stories have also appeared in Tales of the Shadowmen and he worked on the script to Immortel (Ad Vitam). In addition to "Serge Lehman" Fréjean has also written under the names Corteval, Don Hérial, and Karel Dekk.

Titulaire d'une maîtrise d'histoire des sciences, il collabore à divers fanzines (Yellow Submarine, Planète à vendre !, Lendinstorize) et magazines (Bifrost, Alliage, Galaxies, ou encore Ciel et Espace). Connu pour ses nouvelles (certaines parues en recueil), ses ouvrages de science-fiction lui ont valu de nombreux prix, dont le prix Rosny aîné et le Grand Prix de l'Imaginaire. Il a également animé une chronique hebdomadaire dans le quotidien L'Humanité, « L'avenir commence demain » (lien vers ses chroniques). Après une période d'absence du domaine littéraire (durant laquelle il scénarise et adapte La trilogie Nikopol de Enki Bilal dans le film Immortel, ad vitam), il revient en 2005 avec Le Livre des ombres qui réunit une bonne partie de ses nouvelles en un tout cohérent uni par un fil conducteur. En 2006, il publie une imposante anthologie consacrée à l'âge d'or de la science-fiction française (Chasseurs de chimères) et participe l'année suivante à la création de "Flambant 9", la collection de BD des éditions de l'Atalante, où il est également scénariste pour plusieurs dessinateurs : Sarah Debove, Jean-Marie Michaud et Gess. C'est avec ce dernier qu'il lance "La Brigade Chimérique", une saga sur la fin des super-héros européens, coécrite avec Fabrice Colin. En parallèle, il commence une collaboration avec Denoël où il publie en 2008 un recueil, Le haut-lieu et autres espaces inhabitables et une anthologie de nouvelles françaises inédites prévues pour octobre 2009, "Retour sur l'horizon".
