Benjamin Sherman "Scatman" Crothers (May 23, 1910 – November 22, 1986) was an American actor, singer, dancer and musician known for his work as Louie the Garbage Man on the TV show Chico and the Man, and as Dick Hallorann in The Shining in 1980. He was also a prolific voiceover artist, and provided the voices of Meadowlark Lemon in the animated TV version of The Harlem Globetrotters, Jazz the Autobot in Transformers and the title character in Hong Kong Phooey.

Obwohl er in über 60 Kino- und Fernsehfilmen mitwirkte, blieb er vor allem als Sänger und Komponist tätig. Am stärksten blieb sein Auftritt als Hotelkoch in Stanley Kubricks Horrorschocker Shining in Erinnerung. Fünf Jahre zuvor wirkte er bereits als Nachtwächter an der Seite mit Jack Nicholson im Film Einer flog über das Kuckucksnest mit. 1976 spielte er den Schaffner Ralston in der Komödie Trans-Amerika-Express. Er ist auch als musikbegeisterter Kater „Swingy“ in dem Walt Disney-Zeichentrickspielfilm Aristocats (1970) zu hören.
