The Basilica of St Mary of Health, commonly known simply as the Salute, is a Roman Catholic church and minor basilica located in the Dorsoduro sestiere of the Italian city of Venice. It stands on a narrow finger of land between the Grand Canal and the Bacino di San Marco making the church visible when entering the Piazza San Marco from the water. The Salute is part of the parish of the Gesuati and is the most recent of the so-called Plague-churches.

As a votive offering for the city's deliverance from the pestilence, the Republic of Venice vowed to build and dedicate a church to Our Lady of Health . The church was designed in the then fashionable baroque style by Baldassare Longhena, a pupil of the Venetian architect Andrea Palladio, and construction began in 1631. Most of the objects of art housed in the church bear references to the Black Death. The dome of the Salute was an important addition to the Venice skyline and soon became emblematic of the city, inspiring artists like Canaletto, J. M. W. Turner, John Singer Sargent and Francesco Guardi.

De kerk staat langs het Canal Grande in de wijk Dorsoduro en is opgetrokken uit witte kalksteen. Het gebouw is, afgezien van de aanbouw, achthoekig van vorm en in barokstijl gebouwd. Het hele bouwwerk rust op 100.000 eikenhouten palen. De kerk werd destijds gebouwd omdat men dacht dat de pest eindelijk uitgebannen was - na lange tijd is deze echter toch weer uitgebroken in Venetië. Het interieur is uitgevoerd in donkergrijze natuursteen. Op het hoogaltaar staat de beeldengroep De Maagd verdrijft de pest. Verder bevinden er zich schilderijen van Tintoretto, zoals Bruiloft te Kana, en van Titiaan, namelijk Kaïn en Abel, David en Goliath en Het offer van Abraham. Deze Basiliek opent 1 maal per jaar, als de Rio Grande wordt afgesloten met behulp van boten en de mensen te voet mogen oversteken.

Prace rozpoczęto we wrześniu 1631 (po zakończeniu epidemii) a zakończono w 1681. Konsekracja odbyła się 9 listopada 1687. W kościele umieszczono obrazy Tycjana (obraz ołtarzowy – Święty Marek na tronie wraz ze świętymi Kosmą, Damianem, Sebastianem i Rochem) i Jacopo Tintoretto (Wesele w Kanie Galilejskiej), przeniesione z kościoła Santo Sprito. W Wenecji w dniu 21 listopada, rokrocznie odbywa się uroczysta procesja dziękczynna za zdrowie miasta. Prowadzona jest po specjalnie przygotowanym pontonowym pomoście, z placu św. Marka przez Kanał Grande do kościoła Santa Maria della Salute.
