By December 2004 relations within the band were stressed, and vocalist Adam D'Zurilla was asked to leave the band. By April 2005, the band had written over eleven new songs and were eager to share them with fans online. After line up and changes in musical direction, Salem disbanded in August, 2005. The members then went on to create Currents and Mother/Father (along with members of former Epitaph recording artists Scatter the Ashes).
