- Roy Christian Tugbang is a Filipino/Canadian-born singer. Roy Christian Tugbang is a 14 year-old bass-baritone. He is known for his Operatic-Pop or Popera style of singing, and his deep, rich baritone voice which is unusual for his age, as well as his many accomplishments that include being the 2006 Filipino Idol Toronto Grand Champion, recording the Team Italy soccer theme for the Fifa World Cup of Soccer 2006 in Germany, Semi-finalist at the Toronto Rising Star Young Talent Competition and a former member of The Juan Tomas Show Band in Toronto. He hosted his first solo concert on July 7,2007 titled "This Is The Moment Featuring Roy Tugbang" at the Vaughan City Playhouse, with guest performers Nick Palma, Grace Rodriguez, Zena Zagala, and Michael Magali and special appearance guest Candace Santos. Most of Roy's performances are influenced by the operatic pop group Il Divo. Well known in the Toronto Philippine community, he has been given the name "Boy Wonder" because of his powerful and contemporary voice. Roy's large fan base adore his bass/baritone voice, a talent that is very rare to have at young age of 13. On June 11,2007 he joined Toronto Rising Star Talent Competition yet again, this time he went on to win the best on vocals and 1st runner up in all of Toronto. In September 2007, He recorded along with other various artists for a documentary/movie for the autistic. On Saturday August 23rd, Roy auditioned at the Junior Jay's National Anthem Tryouts for a chance to sing at the Rogers Centre in front of he Toronto Blue Jays crowd (September 20, 2008). The audition was judged by Farley Flex (Music Promoter, Canadian Idol Judge) and Brian Melo (Winner of Canadian Idol Season 5). Out of the 26 talented contestants, Roy captured the awe of the judges and was given the opportunity to perform on September 20th 2008. Brian Melo commented to Roy saying "you have a great falsetto and huge notes". Farley Flex commented to Roy saying "You sound really good and have a lot of potential; keep singing you sound really really good". Roy performed "O Canada" and the "Star Spangled Banner" at Toronto's Rogers Center before the Toronto Blue Jays vs. Boston Red Sox fans on September 20th 2008.
