The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Guatemala (erected 18 December 1534, as the Diocese of Guatemala) is a metropolitan diocese, responsible for the suffragan Dioceses of Escuintla, Jalapa, Santa Rosa de Lima, Verapaz, Cobán and Zacapa y Santo Cristo de Esquipulas. Durch Papst Benedikt XIV. wurde das Bistum am 16. Dezember 1743 zum Erzbistum erhoben; erster Erzbischof war Pedro Pardo de Figueroa.
