Roma is a town in the western Darling Downs area of Queensland, Australia, 515 km (318 miles) by rail WNW of Brisbane. It is situated at the junction of the Warrego and Carnarvon highways. It is the centre of a rich pastoral and wheat-growing district, in which oranges and vines are grown and much wine is produced. The town was incorporated in 1867 and is named after Lady Diamantina Bowen (née Roma), the wife of Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of Queensland at the time.

Ein weiterer wichtiger Wirtschaftszweig in Roma und Umgebung ist die Rinderzucht. In Roma liegt der größte Viehhof Australiens, mit mehr als 350.000 verkauften Rindern im Jahr. Außerdem gibt es noch mehrere große Holzplantagen und Sägewerke. In der Nähe von Roma wurden bereits zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts Erdgasvorkommen entdeckt. Heute wird das Erdgas durch eine Pipeline nach Brisbane geliefert. Auch gibt es Pläne für ein Kraftwerk, das vor Ort gebaut werden wird und den Südosten von Queensland mit Strom versorgen soll.
