Robin Miriam Carlsson, better known by her stage name Robyn (born 12 June 1979) is a Grammy Award-nominated Swedish pop singer-songwriter. Robyn was known in the late nineties for her dance-pop hits "Show Me Love" and "Do You Know (What It Takes)". Robyn entered Melodifestivalen 1997 as songwriter with the entry "Du gör mig hel igen". She has since started to gain mainstream success worldwide owing to the popularity of her No 1 hit single "With Every Heartbeat" and subsequent album release.

Senza ombra di dubbio l'obiettivo viene stra-raggiunto; entrambi i singoli finiscono nella Billboard Hot 100 e in più la biondissima Robyn viene scelta per accompagnare I Beckstreet Boys nel loro tour. Dopo un leggero esaurimento nervoso, che l'ha costretta a rimanere ferma per un po', nel 1998 torna in studio, per registrare un nuovo album "My Truth", che verrà pubblicato a maggio dell'anno seguente. Ed ecco i primi problemi: la RCA, etichetta sussidiaria della BMG, annuncia di voler pubblicare l'album anche in America. Ma poi, senza alcun motivo, propone a Robyn di rieregistrare parte dell'album e, solo nel caso in cui la cantante avesse accettato, lo avrebbe distribuito anche sul mercato musicale Americano, ma Robyn non accetta e l'anno successivo passa alla Jive Records (sempre BMG). Dopo 4 anni dall'uscita del terzo album, nel 2002, è la volta di "Don't Stop The Music", del quale, sfortunatamente, solo una piccola chicca del disco varca i confini della sua terra natia, la Scozia, arrivando in Inghilterra: il brano "Keep This Fire Burning" viene scelto come cover dalla britannica Beverly Knight. A causa di altri screzi con la Label, per il semplice fatto che Robyn sa perfettamente che tipo di musica vuole fare e non tollera il fatto che qualcuno metta le mani sul suo lavoro (una musica dance, elettro-pop, fusa con dolci melodie), decide di crearsi un'etichetta discografica tutta sua: La Konichiwa Records. Come "portavoce" di questa creativa e bizzarra etichetta, i cui segni distintivi sono caramelle abnormi, uccellini, canguri e il cui logo è un uccellino, Robyn pubblica il suo quarto album ononimo, anticipato dal singolo "Be Mine!", conquistandosi in pochissimo tempo la vetta delle classifiche svedesi, grazie al suo mix esplosivo di elettronica, pop, rap, r'n'b e new age. L'anno successivo pubblica in Inghilterra un EP, riscuotendo poco successo, ma senza darsi per vinta nel 2007 ci ritenta, questa volta riscuotendo una grande considerazione da parte del pubblico britannico, con il singolo "Konichiwa Bitches" e la ristampa del disco "Robyn".
