His main work is 14 volumes about the career of Nathaniel Drinkwater, and shorter series about James Dunbar and William Kite, but he also written a range of factual books about 18th century and WW2 history. Sein Hauptwerk bilden die bislang 14 Bände um das Leben und die Karriere des Nathaniel Drinkwater. Daneben entwickelte er kürzere Serien um seine beiden weiteren Charaktere James Dunbar und William Kite, hat aber auch marinehistorische Fachbücher über die Geschichte des 18. Jahrhunderts sowie den 2. Weltkrieg. Er hat zahlreiche Beiträge für Magazine und Radiosendungen verfasst und eine monatliche Kolumne bei der Zeitschrift Lloyd´s List geschrieben.
