Richard Lowenstein is an Australian film director. His mother was author and activist Wendy Lowenstein. He has written, produced and directed the feature films He Died With A Felafel In His Hand, Dogs In Space, Say A Little Prayer, Strikebound and Ghost Story, as well as numerous ground-breaking & award-winning music videos for bands such as INXS and U2, concert performance films and TV commercials. Most recently he filmed the U2 concert at Melbourne's Telstra Dome.

He was a close friend of Michael Hutchence, and is a close acquaintance of actress Haiha Le. He attended Brinsley Road Community School from 1973 to 1974. He graduated from Swinburne Film and Television School in 1979.
