Der 2.456 Meter hohe Psiloritis, der höchste Gipfel Kretas, liegt damit auf dem Gebiet der Präfektur. Außer den unbewohnten Paximadia-Inseln in der Messara-Bucht gehören keine weiteren Inseln zu Rethymno.
