Respendial or Respindal was king of a group of Alans in western Europe in the early 5th century CE. Respendial was king of one two groups of Alans which crossed the Rhine into the Roman Empire in 407 CE. The other group was led by Goar, who joined the Romans; Respendial allied himself instead to the Vandals, whom he aided in a battle against the Franks after the Vandal king Godigisel was slain.

Along with the Siling and Asding Vandals and a group of Sueves, Respendial's Alans crossed Gaul and settled in Spain in 409. Respendial's fate is unknown; by 426, he had been succeeded by Attaces, who was killed when the Visigoths invaded Spain. This group of Alans thereafter united with the Asding Vandals, with whom they crossed into Africa and established an independent kingdom.

Il franchit le limes rhénan le 31 décembre 406 à Mayence avec les Hasdings, les Sillings, et les Suèves, se ruant avec ses cavaliers lourds (cataphractes) sur les mercenaires Francs ripuaires qui protégeaient la frontière et qui, malgré leur petit nombre (3.000), mettaient en grande difficulté les Hasdings et/ou les Sillings (Vandales), au point que le roi hasding Godégisel trouva la mort dans la cohue. Sa horde se porte ensuite sur l'Aquitaine, puis en Hispanie en 409, dévastant tout sur son passage. Sa fin reste mystérieuse. On dit que sa horde fut écrasée par les Wisigoths du roi Wallia en 418, et que les survivants se réfugièrent chez les Vandales du roi hasding Gundéric, au N. -O. de la péninsule ibérique. Mais c'est incertain car c'est plus probablement un certain Addac qui fut battu par les Wisigoths. À moins que Respendial et sa horde se désolidarisèrent des Alains de Addac, car des clans alains s'installèrent en Aquitaine, en accord avec les Goths.
