Der Politikwissenschaftler Roger Pielke, Jr. (Sohn des Klimatologen Roger A. Pielke) meinte im Januar 2005, zwei Monate nach dem Start des Blogs, dass die Blogbetreiber in die Falle derer gegangen seien, die mit dem Argument fehlender wissenschaftlicher Sicherheit Klimaschutzmaßnahmen verhindern wollten. Bei der Kontroverse um die globale Erwärmung ginge es um eine politische Auseinandersetzung, nicht um Klimatologie im engeren Sinne, was der Blog aber nicht wiedergebe. .
