  • Rangfarah a completely new concept of god to the tangsa society, which never ever had an 'idolised' god before in their indigenous believes, is principally created and introduced into the Tangsa society to fundamentally counter the spread of Christianity and to bring the Tangsas' believes in line with that of the Hindu religion. The converted followers of Rangfrah have completely abandoned their age-old traditions, rituals, habits and practices like their Christrian brethren. It is taught to the followers that Rangfrah is an incarnation of the Hindu god Shiva. The major communities worshiping the Rangfarah are Muklom, Lunchangs, Juglis, Tutsas and Kimsings. Most of these villages have a temple known as Rangnuwk hum meaning God's worship place which they traditionally never used to have. Every year on December 31 people go on processions to stop the conversion which is increasing exponentially in the state. Ironically, this procession is carried out by a community called the Indigenous Faith community of Arunachal Pradesh who themselves coerce the ignorant tribals in adopting a completely non-indigenous religion called Rangfraism, etc. in various parts of Arunachal Pradesh. Hundreds of converted people participate. Vivekananda Kendra gives support to programs like this. The extent and nature of conversion is proven by the fact that the only college in the district which is situated in outskirts of Changlang town is named after this deity .
