Ralph Fitch (ca 1550 - 1611) was a gentleman merchant of London and one of the earliest English travellers and traders to visit Mesopotamia, the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean, India and Southeast Asia. At first he was no chronicler but did eventually write descriptions of the south east Asia he saw in 1583-1591, and upon his return to England in 1591, became a valuable consultant for the British East India Company

Er reiste 1583 mit John Newberry im Auftrag Königin Elisabeths auf der Landroute nach Indien, besuchte Basra und Ormuz, wo sie von den Portugiesen verhaftet und nach Goa gesandt wurden. Sie erreichten schließlich den Hof des Moguls in der Nähe Agras. Fitch trennte sich von Newberry und zog zwei Jahre lang allein durch Indien. 1586–1591 bereiste er Burma, Ceylon und Kotschin, bevor er 1591 nach England zurücksegelte. Die Erkenntnisse seiner Reisen trugen wesentlich zur Gründung der Englischen Ostindienkompanie bei.
