Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Patiala was established in year 2006 by Punjab Government (Punjab Act No. 12 of 2006) as a public university. The 1st vice-chancellor is Dr. Gurjit Singh. The establishment of RGNUL has fulfilled a dream of having a centre of excellence in legal education in Punjab. Currently, University is functioning from its transit campus at Mahendra Kothi, Patiala. The process of acquiring land for the university is underway.
