Drummer Chalky and guitarist Roger Kelly departed, leaving the remaining trio of Paul Young on vocals, Mick Pearl on bass guitar, and guitarist John Gifford. The ex-Streetbanders and new recruits Dave Lathwell on guitar, Baz Watts on drums and 4-piece brass section Steve Farr, baritone sax, Richard Blanchchard, tenor sax and Stuart Van Blandamer alto sax and Tony Hughes, trumpet hailed from North West London/Hertfordshire while organist Ian Kewley, lived in Essex. The idea was simple - put together a soul band to play the music they all loved, just for fun and maybe a couple of gigs.

Debiutancki singel "SYSLJFM (The Leter Song)" wydany nakładem wytwórni Shotgun zaowocował kontraktem z Chrysalis Records. W 1980 roku ukazał się pierwszy album zespołu, Q-Tips, jednak z powodu słabej sprzedaży wytwórnia wycofała się z kontraktu. Nową wytwórnią zespołu została Rewind Records nakładem której ukazał się singel "Love Hurts" z repertuaru Bouldeaux Bryanta oraz w 1982 roku druga płyta – Live at Last. Niedługo później zespół rozpadł się, a Paul Young rozpoczął karierę solową. W 1991 roku ukazała się płyta z koncertem wydana przez BBC Radio 1.
