Pinta el fondo de escenario y lo decora. En el momento de la representación, provoca su movimiento manejando los hilos, cables o varillas de las marionetas o introduciendo su mano en el interior. Para animar los muñecos, habla o canta imitando la voz de los diferentes personajes. También puede llegar a interpretar algún instrumento como una armónica o reproducir música mediante un aparato eléctrico.
