dbpprop:abstract	Providence University is a Catholic co-educational institution in Shalu, Taichung County, Taiwan. 靜宜大學（英語：Providence University，PU；法語：L'université Providence），是一所由美籍主顧修女會修女蓋夏姆姆（Sister Marie Gratia Luking）所設立的私立大學，，校史可追溯到1932年她在河南開封創辦的靜宜女中。現址位於臺灣臺中縣沙鹿鎮大度山麓，占地廣達30公頃，是一所花園式校園。英文校名「Providence」意指天主保佑之意，中譯「靜宜」二字取自創辦人中文姓名「陸靜宜」，與英文原意無關。 1948年，蓋夏姆姆來到臺灣，開始積極投入在台復校事宜，次年在臺中市自由路籌辦「天主教英語補習學校」，1956年正式向教育部立案成立靜宜女子英語專科學校。歷經多次改制，1989年7月正式升格為大學，1993年起開放男性入學。
