- Prefabrication is the practice of assembling components of a structure in a factory or other manufacturing site, and transporting complete assemblies or sub-assemblies to the construction site where the structure is to be located. The term is used to distinguish this process from the more conventional construction practice of transporting the basic materials to the construction site where all assembly is carried out. The term prefabrication also applies to the manufacturing of things other than structures at a fixed site. It is frequently used when fabrication of a section of a machine or any movable structure is shifted from the main manufacturing site to another location, and the section is supplied assembled and ready to fit. It is not generally used to refer to electrical or electronic components of a machine, or mechanical parts such as pumps, gearboxes and compressors which are usually supplied as separate items, but to sections of the body of the machine which in the past were fabricated with the whole machine. Prefabricated parts of the body of the machine may be called 'sub-assemblies' to distinguish them from the other components.
- Als Halbfabrikate oder Halbfertigprodukt bezeichnet man in der Produktionswirtschaft teilweise fertig erzeugte Vorprodukte, welche entweder zur späteren Verarbeitung im eigenen Unternehmen auf Lager gelegt oder an andere Unternehmen geliefert und dort fertig produziert werden. Die gelagerten Halbfabrikate werden als Aktivposten in der Finanzbuchhaltung des Unternehmens geführt. Werden Halbfabrikate ins Ausland geliefert, um dort fertig produziert und danach re-importiert zu werden, so spricht man von einem Outward Processing Trade. Die Herstellkosten von eigengefertigten Halbfabrikaten werden in der Regel mit einem jährlich festgelegten Standardkostensatz vorkalkuliert. In der Nachkalkulation werden dann Ist-Herstellkosten an den Standardkosten gemessen und können so mittels Abweichungsanalyse genauer untersucht werden.
- Slovem prefabrikace označujeme hromadnou výrobu stavebních dílů. tzv. prefabrikátů (tedy předvýrobu). Jedná se o činnost, která je prováděna buďto ve specializovaných výrobnách nebo může být prováděna přímo na staveništi. Jednotlivé prefabrikáty bývají vyrobeny nejčastěji z betonu nebo jiné směsi, mohou být ale vyrobeny i z jiných materiálů jako je např. ocel, dřevo, plast apod. Jednotlivé prefabrikáty jsou pak na staveniště přiváženy z výroby a vlastní výstavba hrubé stavby probíhá formou montáže jednotlivých dílů. Prefabrikace výrazně urychluje, zlevňuje a zefektivňuje výstavbu, minimalizuje mokrý proces na stavbě a u prefabrikátů se dosahuje větších rozměrových přesností. Mezi nevýhody prefabrikace patří nutná přeprava dílců a menší tuhost ve spojích dílců.

El término prefabricación sigue teniendo una connotación despectiva, lo cual ya adelantaba el diseñador y arquitecto autodidacta Jean Prouvé, cuando decía que lo que se califica como prefabricado acaba asimilándose a edificio provisional. No obstante, la prefabricación conlleva, en la mayoría de los casos, un aumento de calidad, perfeccionamiento y seguridad.
- Een halffabrikaat is een tussenvorm van een product. Het is een grondstof die reeds bewerkt is, maar nog verder moet worden bewerkt tot een eindproduct. Uit bauxiet kan bijvoorbeeld aluminium worden gewonnen. Wanneer hiervan bijvoorbeeld platen worden gemaakt, kan zo'n plaat een halffabrikaat worden genoemd. De platen zelf zijn geen eindproduct, maar kunnen bijvoorbeeld worden verwerkt tot een kast. Vele metalen worden in afgepaste gegoten stukken, "broodjes", verhandeld, zo kent men broodjes tin, ijzer, lood en zelfs goud.
- Prefabrykat - półprodukt, typowy element budowlany służący do montażu na placu budowy np. płyta stropowa. Prefabrykatem jest każdy element budowlany lub konstrukcyjny, którego parametry użytkowania są zbliżone do pożądanych lub wymagają niewielkiej obróbki (np. mechanicznej). Zaletą zastosowania prefabrykatów jest skrócenie czasu wykonania budowli (na placu budowy wykonywany jest montaż gotowych już elementów). Montaż możliwy jest również w warunkach zimowych. Wadami mogą być problemy z transportem prefabrykatów wielkowymiarowych, jak też np. zjawisko "klawiszowania" stropów wykonanych z prefabrykowanych płyt kanałowych.
- Полуфабрикат — изделие, нуждающееся в дальнейшей, окончательной обработке. Чаще всего под полуфабрикатами понимают замороженные продукты и прочие продовольственные товары, из которых можно легко приготовить пищу. К металлическим полуфабрикатам относятся фольга, листы, листопрокат, плиты, трубы, прутки, профили.
