The Political Military Organization (OPM) was a clandestine movement created in Paraguay in the mid 70’s to fight General Alfredo Stroessner’s dictatorship. It was the most serious attempt of creating an armed resistance to the dictator’s government of oppression. Even though the organization was discovered before it was in condition to function properly and attack in some way at the government, the repression that caused the discovery was enormous.

During that repression, several leaders of the organization were captured, tortured and then executed but it also extended to many regions of the country, affecting several agrarian movements and agrarian workers that had nothing to do with the OPM.

Fue el intento más serio de crear una resistencia armada en la segunda mitad del gobierno de Stroessner. Aunque su existencia fue descubierta antes de que estuviera en condiciones de realizar algún operativo de envergadura, la represión que siguió a la captura de sus principales jefes fue de una enorme magnitud y se extendió durante muchos meses a distintas regiones del país afectando a colectivos sociales y políticos que no tenían relación con la OPM.
