- Plectreurid spiders (family Plectreuridae) belong to a small family confined to the North American deserts and the island of Cuba. Only two genera are known - the nominate genus Plectreurys and Kibramoa. These ecribellate (lacking a plate-like wooly silk-producing structure anterior to the spinnerets on the venter), haplogyne spiders build haphazard webs under rocks and dead cacti. Relatively little is known of their biology. Unlike the sicariids, scytodids and diguetids, to which they are related, they have eight eyes. In appearance females of Plectreurys resemble those of the larger species of the cribellate Filistatidae. They differ in their eye arrangement and in having the first femora (third leg segment from the body) bowed.
- Zur Familie der Plectreuridae gehören 30 Arten in zwei Gattungen, Kibramoa Chamberlin 1924 und Plectreurys Simon 1893, die bislang ausschließlich in Nordamerika gefunden wurden. Dort kommen sie in den ariden Klimaten des Südwestens der USA, an verstreuten Orten im Süden und Osten Mexikos sowie auf Costa Rica und Kuba vor. Es sind frei jagende ecribellate, haplogyne Spinnen, die als relativ primitiv angesehen werden können. Sie weben in dunklen Spalten von Mauern, Brücken oder im Boden sowie in der Streuschicht am Boden Wohnröhren, die mit einer Krempe aus Seide versehen werden. Nachts verlassen sie ihre seidenen Gemächer und begeben sich auf die Jagd. Sie besitzen acht Augen und, wie andere Angehörigen der Überfamilie der Pholcoidea, nur die zwei vorderen Buchlungen (Fächertracheen). Die Gattung Plectreurys hat kräftige Beine, und die Männchen haben am ersten Beinpaar kräftige Haken, mit denen sie vermutlich die Weibchen bei der Paarung festhalten. Abgesehen von ihrer geringeren Größe, ähnelt Plectreurys den Falltürspinnen. Die Gattung Kibramoa, bis 1958 in der Familie Sicariidae, hat dünnere Beine und die Männchen haben keine Paarungshaken an den Beinen.

Són aranyes haplogines, cribel·lades, que construeixen les seves teranyines sota roques i cactus morts. Són poc conegues i no se'n sap massa de la seva biologia. A diferència de sicàrids, escitòdids i diguètids, famílies properes, els plectrèurids tenen vuit ulls. En la seva aparença, les femelles de Plectreurys s'assemblen a les grans cribel·lades dels filistàtids. Difereixen però, entre d'altres detalls, en la disposició dels ulls i en què tenen el primer fèmur, és a dir, el tercer segment de les potes, inclinat.
