PlayVix is a reported malware and spyware video codec used in many newly released movies distributed via torrents. It is installed in the system upon $3 purchase of the "player" allowing the user to view videos encoded in this format. There is no clear way to identify and remove it, as as of August 2009 it appears that both Symantec Virus Scan and Microsoft Malware Removal Tool do not identify PlayVix as rogue software.
