Pim Koopman is the drummer and percussionist of the Dutch Progressive rock band Kayak. He co-founded the band along with Ton Scherpenzeel, Johan Slager and Max Werner in 1972. Pim Koopman left the band in 1976 because of health problems and issues with their manager. He went on to become a record producer, and was successful with acts as Maywood, Valensia, Petra Berger and Robby Valentine.

Apart from his work as a musician, Pim often lends his voice to Dutch versions of cartoons and films. For example, he can be heard in Barnyard, Happy Feet and Lilo & Stitch.

In 1972 richtte hij samen met Ton Scherpenzeel de band Kayak op. Daarvoor hadden ze samen al vanaf 1968 in lokale bandjes (Balderdash en High Tide Formation) gespeeld. In 1976 verliet Koopman Kayak en hield zich bezig met het produceren en componeren. Hij had succes met groepen zoals Pussycat, Maywood, Time Bandits en Sandy Coast. Koopman componeerde de muziek voor de films Dokter Vlimmen (1978) en Kort Amerikaans (1979). In 1978 richtte Koopman samen met Rob Vunderink de rockgroep Diesel op. Het nummer Sausalito Summernight werd een hit in Amerika. In 1980 stapte Koopman uit Diesel. Van 1983 tot 1985 speelde Koopman in de band The President. Daarna produceerde hij albums van Robby Valentine, Valensia en Petra Berger. In de jaren 1988-1989 bestond Diesel weer en scoorde een kleine hit met het door Koopman geproduceerde Samantha. Daarna deed Koopman tot twee keer toe met reünies van Diesel mee. In 1999 komt de groep Kayak weer bij elkaar en brengt het album ‘Close to the Fire’ uit. Een jaar later neemt de groep Diesel ook weer een album op. Pim Koopman is ook stemacteur. Hij sprak reclamespotjes en documentaires in en deed mee aan een aantal nagesynchroniseerde Amerikaanse tekenfilms, zoals Barnyard, Happy Feet, Lilo & Stitch en De Drie Musketiers.
