Peter Jephson Cameron (born 23 January 1947) is an Australian mathematician who works in group theory, combinatorics, coding theory, and model theory. He is currently Professor of Mathematics at Queen Mary, University of London. Cameron received a B. Sc. from the University of Queensland and a D. Phil. in 1971 from University of Oxford, with Peter M. Neumann as his supervisor. Subsequently he was a Junior Research Fellow and then a Tutorial fellow at Merton College, Oxford.

Cameron studierte insbesondere Permutationsgruppen mit Anwendungen in Statistik (Design von Experimenten), Graphen, Codes und Geometrie. Eine nach ihm und Paul Erdös benannte Vermutung, dass die Anzahl summenfreier Teilmengen natürlicher Zahlen von der Größenordnung ist (und damit von derselben Größenordnung wie im Spezialfall der ungeraden Zahlen), wurde 2004 von Ben Green bewiesen. 1990 war er Invited Speaker auf dem Internationalen Mathematikerkongress in Kyoto (Infinite permutation groups in enumeration and model theory). 1979 erhielt er den Junior Whitehead-Preis und 2003 die Euler-Medaille.
