Underneath the Friendship Arch there are two statues: one which is made of bronze and depicts a Russian and Ukrainian worker holding up the Soviet Order of Friendship of Peoples and the other is made from granite and depicts the participants of the Pereyaslavska Rada of 1654. There is a viewing deck there where most of the east bank can be viewed, Troeschina and towards the north of the city, Podil and Obolon.

На церемонії відкриття виступив голова компартії України Володимир Щербицький.
