Paul Mullen, born in Houghton-le-Spring (6 September 1982), is the backing vocalist and rhythm guitarist currently for Cardiff based act The Automatic, he is also the lead vocalist for Washington based whom are currently on hiatus. It was announced that he is not the direct replacement for Pennie, in fact Paul will be acting as the bands rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist.
