He achieved great success as a player, winning the Scottish Cup with St. Mirren as a 17 year old, the Champions League with Borussia Dortmund, all the Scottish domestic honours with Celtic and 40 caps for Scotland.

- Paul Lambert ist ein ehemaliger schottischer Fußballspieler. Paul Lambert begann seine Fußballerkarriere in Schottland bei den Linwood Rangers 1984 und wechselte 1985 zum FC St. Mirren. Nach acht Jahren bei diesem Club wechselte er 1993 zum FC Motherwell. Hier fiel er bei einem UEFA-Pokal-Spiel gegen Borussia Dortmund dem Dortmunder Trainer Ottmar Hitzfeld auf, der ihn 1996 nach Dortmund holte. Er spielte zwar nur zwei Spielzeiten bei den Borussen, doch avancierte der kampfstarke Mittelfeldspieler schnell zum Publikumsliebling und gewann zum Abschluss mit den Dortmundern die Champions League. Danach wechselte er zu Celtic Glasgow, wo er bis zu seinem Karriereende 2005 spielte. Der schottische Nationalspieler ist im Besitz einer Trainerlizenz und trat in der Saison 2005/06 seinen ersten Profitrainerposten beim schottischen Erstligisten FC Livingston an. Momentan ist er Trainer von Colchester United.
