In 1983, while playing for the Peoria Prancers, Paul won the Ken McKenzie Trophy IHL, awarded to the most outstanding American born rookie, playing in the International Hockey League. Paul is currently an assistant general manager with the NHL's Nashville Predators. He has a son, P.J. Fenton, who plays minor league hockey for the AHL's Worcester Sharks.
