- Pan European Game Information (engl. für Europaweite Spielinformation, kurz PEGI) ist das erste europaweite Alterseinstufungssystem für Computerspiele und wird von der Interaktiven Softwareföderation Europas (ISFE) verwaltet. Für die praktische Umsetzung des PEGI-Systems ist das niederländische Institut für die Klassifizierung audiovisueller Medien (NICAM) zuständig.
- Pan European Game Information (PEGI) is a European video game content rating system established to help European parents make informed decisions on buying computer games with logos on games boxes. It was developed by the Interactive Software Federation of Europe (ISFE) and came into use in April 2003; it replaced many national age rating systems with a single European system. The PEGI system is now used in more than thirty countries and is based on a code of conduct, a set of rules to which every publisher using the PEGI system is contractually committed. PEGI self-regulation is composed by five age categories and eight content descriptors that advise the suitability and content of a game for a certain age range based on the games content. The age rating does not indicate the difficulty of the game or the skill required to play it. As of August 2010, PEGI has rated more than 15,000 games. 50% of the games were rated 3, 10% were rated 7, 24% were rated 12, 12% were rated 16 and only 4% were 18. On 16 June 2009, it was declared by the UK's Department of Culture, Media and Sport that PEGI would become the sole classification system for videogames and software in the United Kingdom (currently, a portion of the games that would get a PEGI 16 or 18 rating is rated by the BBFC). PEGI ratings are also found on some French language-video games outside Europe, specifically Canada.

Bazuje on również na holenderskim systemie Kijkwijzer. Klasyfikacja dzielona jest na dwie części. W pierwszej wybierany jest minimalny wiek, oznaczający dla kogo, pod względem wieku, powinna być dostępna gra, natomiast w drugiej produkt oznaczany jest maksymalnie siedmioma opisami, oznaczającymi m. in. nadmierną przemoc, dyskryminację, materiały erotyczne itd. W ramach systemu PEGI działają: Komitet Doradczy, złożony z przedstawicieli europejskich instytucji rządowych, ekspertów ds. ochrony dzieci, naukowców i psychologów. Komitet Doradczy opiniuje zmiany w systemie PEGI, w tym w kodeksie PEGI (PEGI Code of Conduct) oraz zmiany kryteriów klasyfikacji gier. Komitet ds. Skarg, złożony głównie z naukowców, w którym oceniane są gry, co do których kryteriów klasyfikacji istnieją wątpliwości, a także prośby o zmianę klasyfikacji. Komitet Wykonawczy, który nakłada kary w przypadku stwierdzonych naruszeń zasad obowiązujących w systemie PEGI. Wydawca gry, który przystąpił do systemu, a naruszył zasady (np. pomimo sklasyfikowania gry jako dozwolona od lat 16, na opakowaniu zamieścił oznaczenie od 7 lat) może spodziewać się kary finansowej, nałożonej przez Komitet Wykonawczy. W gronie 15 członków PEGI Advisory Board oraz 17 członków Complaints Board znajduje się dwóch Polaków – Rafał Lew-Starowicz i doktor Dominika Urbańska-Galanciak. Od kwietnia 2003 do lipca 2009 roku w ramach systemu oceniono 10495 gier, z czego połowa otrzymała kategorię 3, 11% – kategorię 7, 23% – kategorię 12, 12% – kategorię 16, a 4% kategorię 18. W 2007 roku działalność rozpoczęła PEGI Online – komórka organizacji zajmująca się ochroną dzieci i młodzieży przed nieodpowiednimi treściami zawartymi w grach online.
