The town is home to the world's largest Ostrich population with a number of specialized ostrich breeding farms such as the Safari Show Farm and the Highgate Ostrich Show Farm.

Sehenswürdigkeiten sind das C.P. Nel Museum im Stadtzentrum sowie einige Straußenfarmen außerhalb der Stadt. Etwa 25 Kilometer entfernt findet sich das Höhlensystem der Cango Caves und weiter auf dem Weg nach Prince Albert der unbefestigte Swartbergpass durch die bis 2.150 Meter hohen Swartberge.
