- Der Otranto-Feldzug war ein militärische Unternehmung der Streitkräfte des Osmanischen Reiches auf der Apenninen-Halbinsel in den Jahren 1480/81, in deren Mittelpunkt die Stadt Otranto stand. Diese wurde von den Osmanen erobert, schließlich jedoch wieder geräumt.
- La bataille d'Otrante est le nom sous lequel est connu le combat qui se déroula dans la ville homonyme salentine, quand en l'an 1480, une armée ottomane (dont l'objectif était en réalité Brindisi) attaqua la ville, qui appartenait alors aux Aragonais. Au terme de la bataille, le 14 août 1480, huit cent Otrantins, qui avaient refusé de renier la religion chrétienne furent décapités sur le col de la Minerve : On les commémore comme les bienheureux martyrs d'Otrante. Leurs reliques sont conservées dans la cathédrale de la ville. Suite à la bataille et à l'invasion des ottomans, le monastère de Saint Nicolas de Casole qui abritait alors une des plus riches bibliothèques d'Europe fut complètement détruit. Les faits de la bataille furent relatés sous forme de roman par Maria Corti, dans le livre L'ora di tutti, et par Rina Durante dans le feuilleton Le saccage d'Otrante.
