- Osker war eine US-amerikanische Punk-Rock Band, die 1998 von Devon Williams (Gitarre und Gesang) und Dave Benitez (Bass) gegründet und mit wechselnder Besetzung am Schlagzeug komplettiert wurde. Noch im selben Jahr veröffentlichten sie zusammen mit der Gruppe Blindsided eine Vinyl-EP auf BANKSHOT! Records und konnten über Kontakte einen Track zum Sampler "Punk-O-Rama 3" des Indie-Labels Epitaph beisteuern. Dieses war von der Band angetan und stellte Geld zur Produktion eines Albums zur Verfügung, das 2000 unter dem Titel "Treatment 5" erschien, das in typischer US-Punk-Manier gespielt und produziert war, und von Kritikern als Epitaph-typisch und vergleichbar mit u.a. Rancid bezeichnet wurde. Bereits im Jahr 2001 erschien ebenfalls bei Epitaph das Nachfolgealbum "Idle Will Kill", das sich in Produktion und Songwriting deutlich vom Vorgänger abhob und auch von der Kritik wohlwollender aufgenommen wurde. Anfang 2002 gab Williams die Auflösung der Band bekannt. Er spielte zwischenzeitlich in Fingers Cut Megamachine und Lavender Diamond und veröffentlicht heute unter seinem eigenen Namen. Benitez spielt im Rock-Duo The Black Heartthrobs.

I respect the person that says, "I don't care for that" because there is no extreme, it's pure sincerity. Punk is doing what you want despite the infiltrators, outside of the skateboards and shoes and hair and patches and the diets and the tattoos. After the split, Williams announced they had been working on a new album (tentatively titled Thriller), however it was later said by Benitez to be a joke. "The split between Dave and I is astounding to me. I always thought we were the next Simon and Garfunkel. I thought we would be our generations Hall and Oates ... Of course, I plan on killing Dave. Les mélodies prennent leurs distances avec le son punk traditionnel et, avec le recul, peuvent apparaître aujourd'hui comme un premier pas vers le son du nouveau groupe de Devon (et dans lequel joue Dave), Fingers-Cut, Megamachine. C'était grâce à Mike, à qui Devon avait envoyé une démo pour recueillir un simple avis, qu'Osker avait eu l'occasion de signer chez Epitaph. Devon et Dave laissent tomber le groupe en 2002. Dave Benitez participe pour sa part à un nouveau projet, The Black Heartthrobs. Tout ceci laisse l'avenir de Fingers-Cut, Megamachine en suspens.
