  • "One Day Like This" is the second single from Elbow's fourth album The Seldom Seen Kid, released on 2 June 2008 on two 7" vinyl records and one CD single. "One Day Like This" debuted at #39 in the UK Singles Chart on 8 June 2008, marking Elbow's seventh UK Top 40 single. After 14 weeks, the single finally peaked at #35 on 14 September 2008. Although it peaked considerably lower than its predecessor "Grounds for Divorce" (which peaked at #19), the band's increasing popularity in the UK after winning their 2009 BRIT Award for Best British band meant that "One Day Like This" has spent more weeks in the UK Top 100 that any of Elbow's other singles, spending 35 weeks there; unlike its predecessor, which spent 11 weeks in the UK Top 100. The song peaked at #35 again on 22 February 2009 and was still on the charts at #95 as of 21 June 2009. On 21 May 2009, the song won the Ivor Novello award for Best Song. "One Day Like This" was used on Sky UK's Earth Day 2009 advert, as well as TV spots for the 2009 Robert Downey Jr. /Jamie Foxx film The Soloist and used during "the best bits" for Big Brother 9 in the UK. The song was also used in a montage scene from the fourth episode of the 2008 series Hollyoaks Later. In July 2009, it was featured in "Children of Earth: Day Three", an episode from the third season of the UK series Torchwood.
