Nugaal is one of the smaller administrative regions of Somalia. It is located in the northeastern part of the country, and its capital is Garoowe. Nugaal is bordered by Ethiopia and the Somali regions of Sool to the west, Bari to the north, and Mudug to the south, with the Indian Ocean to the east.
