  • The Nordic Catholic Church (den nordisk-katolske kirke) is a church body in Norway of High Church Lutheran origin, under the auspices of the Polish National Catholic Church and the episcopal oversight of the bishop of its Buffalo-Pittsburgh diocese. The Nordic Catholic Church was founded in 1999 by a group of Catholic-minded people belonging to the “orthodox opposition” in the Lutheran state Church of Norway when they left the state church due to, for example, the ordination of women to the priesthood and episcopate. During the process both the Anglican Forward in Faith organisation and the Free Synod of the Church of Sweden were kept fully informed. In Sweden it was paralleled by the foundation of the Mission Province of the Church of Sweden. The "Statement of Faith" of the Nordic Catholic Church states that it adheres to its Lutheran heritage to the extent that it has embraced and transmitted the orthodox and catholic faith of the undivided church, therefore also embracing the Catholic faith as taught by the Polish National Catholic Church. The vicar general and the bishop elect of the Nordic Catholic Church in Scandinavia is Monsignor Roald Nicolai Flemestad.

Den nordisk-katolske kirken perusti 1999 ryhmä Norjan kirkon tunnustukselliseen, naispappeutta vastustavaan oppositioon kuuluvia korkeakirkollisia pappeja. Uuden kirkkokunnan muodostaminen tapahtui prosessissa, jossa anglikaaninen Forward in Faith sekä Svenska kyrkans fria synod pidettiin mukana. Ruotsin kirkossa tätä seurasi myöhemmin Missionsprovinsenin perustaminen. Kirkon jäsenet kokoontuvat jumalanpalveluksiin Harstadiin, Ålesundiin, Bergeniin, Kristiansandiin, Sarpsborgiin ja Osloon. Ruotsissa jumalanpalveluksia pidetään Tukholmassa. Den nordisk-katolske kirke on amerikkalaisen piispa Thaddeus Peplowskin kaitsennassa. Hänen yleisvikaarinaan pohjoismaissa toimii Isä Roald Flemestad.

Det ble dannet av utbrytere fra de lutherske kirker som har forlatt statskirkene i de nordiske land i fortvilelse over den politisk styrte utviklingen i disse kirkene de siste årene og søkt mot katolisismen, men uten helt å glemme den lutherske arven: «Selv om man altså stiller seg avvisende til Den norske kirkes utvikling, er man seg samtidig bevisst at det gis en åndelig arv som man gjør rett i å ta vare på» Trossamfunnet kan dermed beskrives som en mellomting mellom en luthersk og en katolsk kirke, dannet spesielt for personer som tidligere var medlemmer av de lutherske statskirker. Blant prestene i trossamfunnet er Asle Dingstad, tidligere prost i Den norske kirke og forlagssjef for Luther Forlag. Generalvikar for kirken er nordmannen Roald Nicolai Flemestad; han er også utsett til å bli kirkeamfunnets biskop på skandinavisk nivå.

Jego założycielem jest grupa wiernych i duchownych, która odeszła z Ewangelicko-Luterańskiego Kościoła Norwegii w sprzeciwie wobec wprowadzonego w Kościele Norwegii kapłaństwa kobiet oraz liberalizacji stosunku Kościoła Norwegii do homoseksualizmu. Opiekę biskupią nad Nordyckim Kościołem Katolickim sprawuje biskup PNKK Tadeusz Pepłowski. Generalnym wikariuszem Kościoła jest biskup-elekt Roald Nikolai Flemestad.
