La consécration viendra avec la sortie de leur troisième album, "In Their Darkened Shrines", album contenant le plus d'ambiances orientales. Selon les fans (et la presse spécialisée), cet album permet au groupe de se positionner au panthéon des meilleurs groupes de Death-Metal. Suivront ensuite "Annihilation of the Wicked" et "Ithyphallic", deux monuments de Death technique, toujours marqués par les ambiances et les samples égyptiens. Leur musique est globalement brutale et directe : d'un haut niveau technique et d'une vitesse d'exécution extrême, on y note entre autres l'utilisation de guitares accordées en La. Malgré cette approche technicienne et violente, Nile sait aussi cultiver des ambiances plus mystiques, avec de longs passages plus ambiants utilisant des instruments traditionnels et guitares 12 cordes acoustiques. Cette rencontre entre brutalité technique et acoustique orientale (que l'on retrouve aussi dans les textes, consacrés à l'Égypte et à ses divinités) crée un son très sombre, puissant et original. Le leader du groupe, Karl Sanders, a également sorti un projet solo, intitulé "Saurian Meditation", un recueil de musiques orientales à la sonorité envoûtante.
