Nicholas J. Spaeth was Attorney General of North Dakota from 1985 to 1992. He lost the 1992 North Dakota governor's race to Ed Schafer 58% to 41%. Mr. Spaeth is the only statewide, elected official not to be endorsed by the NRA in the history of the state of North Dakota. Although he is an avid hunter he is a lifetime advocate of gun control. Spaeth joined H&R Block, Inc. in 2004 and served as a senior vice president and chief legal officer.
