Ein weiterer internationaler Erfolg gelang ihnen mit dem Song "Once in a Lifetime Groove" 1986. Bekanntestes Mitglied ist Bobby Brown, der 1987 eine erfolgreiche Solokarriere startete und Ehemann von Whitney Houston gewesen war. Drei Mitglieder bildeten Anfang der 90er die Band Bell Biv DeVoe, die ebenfalls erfolgreich war. Mitte der 90er und ab 2005 wurde die New Edition wiederbelebt und ist immer noch aktiv.

La frénésie du public pour ce groupe a permis la création par le même producteur de formations comme les New Kids on the Block, Backstreet Boys ou encore les N'Sync.
