The National Library of Mali is a public library located in Bamako, Mali. The National Library was first created by the Institut Français d’Afrique Noire, an arm of the French colonial government, in 1944. Following Mali's 1960 independence, this library became the Government Library; it would later be renamed again as the National Library of Mali. In 1968 the library was transferred from its initial home in Koulouba to Ouolofobougou, a section of Bamako.

A 1984 law defined the library's mission as: Acquiring, conserving, and diffusing of all current scholarship concerning all areas of human endeavor; Contributing, in its role as a depository of the national literature, to knowledge, preservation, and use of Malian cultural values; Participating with all organizations and public and private associations for the promotion of books in Mali. The library holds more than 60,000 works, including books, periodicals, audio documents, videos, and software. These materials are available free to the public, though a small subscription fee is required for borrowing privileges. The library also hosts some of the exhibits for African Photography Encounters, a biannual Bamako photography festival.

Issue de l’Institut français d'Afrique noire créé par le colonisateur français devenu après l’indépendance l’Institut des sciences humaines, la Bibliothèque du gouvernement qui devient ensuite Bibliothèque nationale, d’abord situé à Koulouba, s’installe en 1968 dans le quartier d’Ouolofobougou. Ses missions sont définies par une loi de 1984 : Acquérir, conserver et diffuser toute la documentation courante ayant trait à tous les secteurs de l’activité humaine; Contribuer, en tant que dépositaire du patrimoine littéraire national, à faire connaître, défendre et mieux utiliser les valeurs culturelles maliennes; Créer et favoriser les habitudes de lecture; Participer avec tous les organismes et associations publics et privés à la promotion du livre en République du Mali. Son fonds, composé de 60 000 documents, est constitué de livres fournis par les éditeurs (le dépôt légal a été institué en 1985), de périodiques ainsi que de documents sonores, vidéo et informatiques. Ces documents sont consultables librement sur place et peuvent pour certains être empruntés. Elle abrite depuis 2004 la Maison africaine de la photographie qui organise la biennale internationale des Rencontres africaines de la photographie.
