Die anderen Lesesäle umfassen Zeitungsräume, Räume mit Mikrofilmen, einen Kartenraum und einen Raum mit der Foto- und Bildersammlung PictureAustralia. Bedingt durch den Bestandsumfang der Nationalbibliothek an Büchern, Zeitschriften, Bildern, Karten, Mikrofilmen und anderen Medien ist nicht die gesamte Kollektion im Hauptgebäude untergebracht. Ein Teil des Bestandes wurde deshalb in ein Gebäude in Hume ausgelagert. Die Regale erstrecken sich auf eine Länge von ca 40 Kilometern. Die Nationalbibliothek liefert ihre fast 100.000 Inhalte auch direkt über Internet an die Nutzer. Ferner bietet die Nationalbibliothek ihren Nutzern die Möglichkeit zur Forschung, einen Souvenir-Laden mit australischen Büchern, ein Café und eine Lounge für die Mitglieder. Außerdem sind Ausstellungsräume für zeitlich begrenzte Ausstellungen vorhanden. Das Gebäude der Nationalbibliothek ist bei Canberras Kletterfreunden sehr beliebt, da die verbauten Schnittblöcke an der nördlichen Außenwand eine alpinistische Herausforderung darstellen.
