Næturvaktin revolves around the lives of three employees working at a petrol station in Reykjavík. The eccentric supervisor and Communist Georg Bjarnfreðarson, has five University degrees and a fond admiration for Sweden and Swedish culture. Ólafur Ragnar who is a regular employee is a simple, well meaning guy who has ambitions of becoming a band manager. Daníel is a former medical student who has recently cut off all relations with his friends and family because of test anxiety and depression. He starts working at the gas station at the beginning of the series. A sequel to Næturvaktin called Dagvaktin was launched on September 21st and was on sunday evenings every week, until November 30th. The third part, Fangavaktin is now in the making and will be shown on Stöð 2 in September 2009. A film, Bjarnfreðarson, concluding the series will premiere at Christmas 2009.
