- Mus is a popular Spanish card game, allegedly the most played card game in Spain, originating from the Navarre and Basque regions in Spain. From there it spread all over the country, where it is now the most played card game, spawning countless Mus clubs or peñas and becoming a staple game among college students. It is highly regarded, being considered by many as one of the finest card games. The word Mus comes via Basque from a source North of the Pyreness, most likely French mouche ("fly"), from Latin mussula. It is played between two opposing pairs of players with the Spanish deck which is a deck of 40 cards, without eights or nines and no jokers, and it has a variety of different rules in the different regions of Spain. The game has four rounds: Grande (Biggest): playing for the highest combination of cards; handiak (big ones) in Basque. Pequeña or Chica (Smallest): playing for the lowest combination of cards. Pares (Pairs): playing for the best matching card combination; pareak in Basque. Juego (Game): playing for cards total values of 31 or more. Sometimes replaced by a Punto (Point) special round; jokua in Basque. In each of these four rounds players take by order a call each, verbalizing (usually after discussing it with his partner) whether if he/them will bid "envido" or pass "paso" which only results in skipping call turn to next player. After all four players have called there should be any bet ("envite") made; if none at all was made and all four players passed to bid, the round is "in pass" and will be decided at the end of the hand for a reduced value of just one point. "'Envido'" (I bid) is the commonest expression used to bid, it specifically means a two-point bid, which is the lowest possible bid. Then the rival could reply with "'envido más'" (I bid more), which means he wants the 2-bid and even raises the bid 2 more. However in every round and turn to call players can bet or raise the existing bet as many points as they wish or even all of them (Ordago, from Basque or dago "there it is") with no limitations. It has a distinctive feature in that passing some established signals (señas) between players is perfectly allowed during the game. One other special feature of Mus is that it is a mostly verbal game, with little card-involving action, limited to deal and discard (if any). After cards are dealt and Mus (discard) is stopped, all rounds are played verbally, bets are called, passed, accepted or rejected but cards are not shown, dealt or touched in any further way, and the player only is obligued to show them in the end of the round if needed in order to resolve any accepted bet. This makes it a not too good card game to watch other people play, and learning to play it through only watching is rather difficult in comparison with other card games. Basque emigrants carried the game to other countries. Nowadays there is an international Mus tournament, apart from many national and regional ones. It is not uncommon to hear the Basque tems, such as órdago (from Basque hor dago "there it is") used by Spanish speakers, often without them being aware of the literal meanings of the terms and phrases.

Ziel des Spieles ist es, eine vorher vereinbarte Anzahl von Sätzen zu gewinnen. Ein Satz geht in der Regel über dreißig Punkte. Punkte bekommt man für bestimmte Kartenkombinationen, aber auch durch den Abschluss von Wetten über die Stärke der Blätter des eigenen Teams. Dabei gibt es vier Wetten hintereinander: "LA GRANDE": Es kommt auf möglichst hohe Karten an. "LA CHICA": Es kommt auf möglichst niedrige Karten an. "PARES": Es kommt auf möglichst hohe Paarkombinationen an. "JUEGO": Bei dieser Wette kommt es auf bestimmte Punktwertkombinationen an. Alle vier Wetten werden hintereinander mit den gleichen Blättern gespielt, die Karten erst nach allen vier Wetten aufgedeckt. Dadurch ergeben sich viele Bluffmöglichkeiten. Ausdrücklich erlaubt ist bei Mus der Gebrauch bestimmter festgelegter Geheimzeichen, um dem Team-Partner zu signalisieren, welche Karten man auf der Hand hat. So signalisiert beispielsweise ein kurzes Beißen auf die Mitte des Unterlippe zwei Könige.
- El mus es un juego de naipes, de origen vasco-navarro, que en la actualidad se encuentra muy extendido por toda España. Lo juegan cuatro personas agrupadas en dos parejas. Las reglas pueden variar mucho dependiendo de dónde se juegue, pero cada mano siempre consistirá de las siguientes jugadas llamadas lances: Grande: la combinación es mejor cuanto mayor sea el valor de las cartas. Chica: la combinación es mejor cuanto menor sea el valor de las cartas. Pares: la combinación es mejor cuantas más cartas iguales haya y mayor sea su valor. Juego: consiste en igualar o superar la cifra de 31 sumando el valor de cada carta. Si nadie alcanza esta cifra, se jugará al punto y la mejor combinación será la que más se aproxime a 30. En cada una de las jugadas se puede envidar (apostar) el número de tantos que se quiera (el mínimo es dos) o incluso jugarse todo un juego en lo que se conoce como un órdago. La pareja ganadora será la que primero gane una partida, dicha partida estará formada por lo que se llama en la jerga del mus una vaca. Cada vaca estará compuesta por un número determinado de juegos (chicos o pequeños), pueden ser 3, 4 ó 5 juegos y, a su vez cada, juego estará formado por un número determinado de tantos. El número más usual es 40 pero también se juega a 25, 30, 35 ó 50, dependiendo de la zona.
- Le Mus est un jeu de cartes populaire d'origine basque. Le Mus, qui se prononce « mouche », est un jeu proche du Poker mais où l'on ne joue généralement pas d'argent. Le Mus est réellement un jeu tout à fait rapide et franc, avec beaucoup de place pour le bluff et les plaisanteries. Il se joue à 4 joueurs : 2 équipes de 2 se disposant alternativement autour d'une table. On joue dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d'une montre. Le paquet de cartes est formé de 40 cartes espagnoles. Les enseignes (équivalent au trèfle, carreaux, pique et cœur) sont: les épées les bâtons les coupes les pièces de monnaie Chaque enseigne se compose du Roi (12), Cavalier (11), Valet (10), 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 et l'As. Dans le jeu de Mus, les suites n'ont aucune signification particulière.
