Kingston upon Thames was a local government district and borough in north east Surrey, England from 1835 to 1965 around the town of Kingston upon Thames. It was alternatively known as Kingston on Thames and held the status of Royal borough. The borough was created in 1835 by the Municipal Corporations Act 1835 from the ancient borough of Kingston upon Thames; originally chartered in 1628.
