- Mouth & MacNeal was a pop duo from The Netherlands. They were formed in 1971 when record producer Hans van Hemert brought together the solo talents of Mouth (born Willem Duyn, March 31, 1937) and Maggie MacNeal (born Sjoukje van't Spijker, May 5, 1950) together. 'Big Mouth' had previously sung in a number of 1960s bands, including Speedway. In contrast, MacNeal had had an unsuccessful career as a solo artist. The duo released their first single almost immediately, "Hey You Love", which reached #5 in the Dutch Top 40 while the next two singles "How Do You Do" and "Hello-A" both reached #1. In 1972, Mouth & MacNeal reached the top of the charts all over Europe, with their fame (especially in Germany) reaching almost hysterical proportions. "How Do You Do" was made popular in the United States by the radio personality Jim Connors. The song eventually reached #8 in the U.S. in July 1972. "How Do You Do" spent 19 weeks in the Billboard Hot 100 and won the R.I.A.A. gold disc on 2 August 1972. Selling over a million copies in the U.S. alone, global sales exceeded two million. This propelled their 1972 album How Do You Do into the Billboard 200 (US #77). More hit singles followed in 1973, and in 1974 Mouth & MacNeal represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest placing third, behind ABBA and Gigliola Cinquetti with their song "I See a Star", which went on to be a #1 hit in Ireland. In December 1974, shortly after their success with "I See a Star", Mouth and MacNeal suddenly parted ways. Big Mouth and his wife Ingrid Kup continued and formed the act Big Mouth & Little Eve, whereas Maggie MacNeal went back to solo performing. 'Big Mouth' Willem Duyn died from a heart attack in his hometown of Roswinkel on December 4, 2004 at the age of 67.

Mit der Nachfolgesingle Hello-A standen Mouth & MacNeal 1972 in Deutschland mehrere Wochen lang auf Platz 1. Im gleichen Jahr war You-Kou-La-Le-Lou-Pie noch ein Top 20 Hit, während sich Battering Ram im Frühjahr 1973 in Deutschland nicht mehr platzieren konnte. Mit Ik zie een ster (I See a Star) vertraten die beiden 1974 die Niederlande beim Eurovision Song Contest und belegten Platz 3 hinter dem Siegertitel Waterloo von ABBA und Si von Gigliola Cinquetti. Kurz darauf trennte sich das Duo. Während sich Maggie MacNeal fortan als Solistin betätigte, gründete Mouth mit neuer Partnerin das Duo „Big Mouth & Little Eve“. Willem Duyn starb am 3. Dezember 2004 an einem Herzstillstand. 2007 wurde die Melodie von How Do You Do? von Scooter für den Song The Question Is What Is the Question übernommen.

Następne przeboje dotarły już do miejsca pierwszego "How Do You Do" i "Hello-A". Dzięki popularyzowaniu przeboju "How Do You Do" w amerykańskim radiu przez Jima Connorsa dotarł on do miejsca 8. W roku 1974 duet reprezentował Holandię w Konkursie Piosenki Eurowizji, gdzie ich utwór "I See A Star" zajął 3 miejsce ustępując jedynie szwedzkiej grupie ABBA oraz włoskiej piosenkarce Giglioli Cinquetti, a pozostawiając w pokonanym polu Olivię Newton-John reprezentującą barwy Wielkiej Brytanii. Duet rozpadł się w grudniu 1974 roku. Big Mouth wraz z Ingrid Kup (swoją przyszłą żoną) utworzył kolejny duet Big Mouth and Little Eve, który jednak nie odniósł większego sukcesu. Maggie MacNeal zdecydowała się natomiast kontynuować karierę solową. W roku 1980 ponownie reprezentowała Holandię na Konkursie Piosenki Eurowizji piosenką "Amsterdam" i zajęła 5 miejsce. Od roku 2000 wraz z Marga Bult tworzy duet o nazwie Dutch Divas. Big Mouth zmarł na atak serca w wieku 67 lat w dniu 4 grudnia 2004 w swoim domu w Roswinkel.

Senare gjorde han solokarriär, men dog i en hjärtattack 2004. Maggie MacNeal gjorde solokarriär efter Mouth & MacNeal, och representerade Nederländerna i Eurovision Song Contest 1980 med "Amsterdam". Ironiskt nog arrangerades tävlingen i Haag.
