The Muslim Democratic Party or MDP is a political party in Belgium which was formed in 2003, as a result of the poor showing of the alliance party RESIST between the Marxist-Leninist Workers Party of Belgium and the AEL (Arab European League, a popular Muslim and Arab nationalist movement) at the 2003 Belgian federal elections. The party was founded by Dyab Abou Jahjah, Lebanese-born leader and founder of the AEL.
