- Mosaic Records is an American specialist jazz record label, founded in 1983 by Michael Cuscuna and Charlie Lourie to issue coherent limited edition box sets of jazz recordings by individual musicians, which had fallen out-of-print. The sets would be leased from the major record companies, usually for a three- or five-year period, with the edition limited to a specific number of copies. Sometimes the complete catalog of a label would appear: the complete masters of Milt Gabler's Commodore Records were contained in three sets consisting of some 66 LPs. In 2003 the company initiated the Select series of smaller sets, not necessarily "complete" in the usual sense. In 2006, the company began a third line, Mosaic Singles, a series dedicated to reissuing individual albums on CD which have not previously been available in US editions, or at all. Over a hundred and fifty sets have now been issued by the company (though most sets' leases have now expired). Since 1998, Capitol Records has owned 50% of Mosaic, and is part of the Blue Note Label Group.

Beispiele des Katalogs sind Helen Merrill, Count Basie (Verve Studioaufnahmen in 1950er und 1936 bis 1940 mit Lester Young), Sarah Vaughan (Roulette), Hank Mobley (Blue Note, 1950er), Benny Golson/Art Farmer „Jazztet“ (Mercury, Argo), Charlie Parker (Benedetti Recordings, Auflage nicht begrenzt), Toshiko Akiyoshi/Lew Tabackin (erste fünf Studioalben 1974- 1977). Die Idee entstand, als beide noch bei Blue Note Records waren, Lourie ab 1974 als Marketing Director (davor bei CBS), Cuscuna als Produzent. Cuscuna startete 1975 eine Reissue Serie bei Blue Note, die aber immer wieder mit Schwierigkeiten zu kämpfen hatte. Die ersten drei Box Sets waren 1983 die Complete Blue Note Recordings von Thelonious Monk (für einen Grammy nominiert), The Complete Gerry Mulligan Quartet and Tentette with Chet Baker, The Complete Blue Note Recordings of Albert Ammons and Meade Lux Lewis. Seit 1998 ist das Label nicht mehr unabhängig; Capitol Records besitzt 50% des Labels, das nun als Teil von Blue Note Records geführt wird.
