Monte Disgrazia (3678 m) is a mountain in the Bregaglia range in the Italian Alps. It is the highest peak in the Val Masino group, situated south of the Bernina Range. It has five glaciers and five wild ridges and is a demanding climb. The first ascent was by Leslie Stephen, E. S. Kennedy and Thomas Cox with guide Melchior Anderegg on 23 August 1862. Their route over the Preda Rossa glacier and the northwest ridge is the easiest one and has remained the normal climbing route.

  • Der Monte Disgrazia ist der Hauptgipfel der Bergeller Alpen und einer der eindrucksvollsten Berge der Ostalpen überhaupt. Er misst 3.678 Meter und steht abseits des Hauptkammes der Bergeller Alpen zwischen zwei Seitentälern des Veltlin, dem Val Malenco im Osten und dem Val Masino im Westen, also vollständig auf italienischem Boden. Er bildet eine ca. 600 Meter lange mehrgipflige Mauer, die in nordwestlich-südöstlicher Richtung verläuft. Blickt man von Nordwesten oder Südosten, erscheint er als scharfes, elegantes Horn. Das Veltlin bei Sondrio überragt er um knapp 3.400 Meter. Im Gegensatz zu den übrigen Bergeller Bergen, welche aus granitischen Gesteinen bestehen, wird der Monte Disgrazia durch Talk-Olivin-Schiefer und Serpentinite aufgebaut. Der Normalaufstieg erfolgt vom Rifugio Ponti im Südwesten des Berges über die Sella di Pioda und den Nordwestgrat (G 4; II). Die Erstbesteigung erfolgte am 23. August 1862 durch Leslie Stephen, Edward Shirley Kennedy und Thomas Cox mit Melchior Anderegg als Führer.

Op 23 augustus 1862 werd de berg voor het eerst beklommen door de Britten Leslie Stephen, Thomas Stuart Kennedy, Thomas Cox en Melchior Anderegg.
