The Mixe languages are languages of the Mixean branch of the Mixe-Zoquean language family indigenous to southern Mexico. The languages of this branch that are spoken in Oaxaca are called Mixe while their relatives in Veracruz are called Popoluca. The Mixe languages of Oaxaca can be subdivided into three dialect areas: Highland Mixe, Midland Mixe and Lowland Mixe.
