  • Mind Shelter is an international electronic-metal band that formed in November 2001 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It was founded when guitarist/producer Lexander, guitarist Sebastian Vispo and drummer Fernando Franchi (all ex-Mystical Darkness, a project that the three of them had started in Venezuela in 1996) met in Amsterdam and decided to form a new band influenced by mainly electronic and metal music. At the beginning of 2003, Mind Shelter's line-up consisted of Lexander, Sebastian Vispo, drummer Fernando Franchi, bassist Bart Mulder (ex-Deft Act) and lead vocalist Bart van Velzen (ex-SynerG). By 2005 Bart Mulder was replaced by Sebastian Vispo on the bass when guitarist Johnathan Davidsentered the band. By 2006 singer Gmork joined the band as a second singer, to become in 2007 the only lead singer when Bart van Velzen left the band. Jim Davis, President of Jam Talent, has been their official manager since September 2004 until December 2006. The international nature of the band is reflected in the origins of both current and past members—Lexander (Colombia), Sebastian (Spain), Fernando (Venezuela), Bart van Velzen (Netherlands), Johnathan (Netherlands). Mind Shelter's first release "Manipulated Living" in 2003, a 6 track EP, included "Zero Gravity" which later became number 1 and number 2 for many weeks under 'most requested new acts' at the internet biggest metal radio station Chronixradio. Another important appearance of the song was as a soundtrack for Quake 4 Fortress mod. The band earned a growing fan base in the underground music community. From 2003 to 2005 the band had shows at well known venues in the Netherlands like Melkweg, Gigant, Paard van Troje, P60, Tivoli and shared a stage with acts such as Helmet, Wednesday 13, Laberinto, Textures. Mind Shelter has released 1 EP ("Manipulated Living" in 2003), 1 internet single, 1 video for the 2006 single, 1 sound track for the short movie "Smokers and non Believers", 1 soundtrack for the Quake 4 fortress mod, and is working on a second EP on which two of the new tracks "The Airplane Phenomenon" and "iDespise" can be previewed on MySpace.
